Post 4: Tablet messes a good night’s sleep

Tablet messes a good night’s sleep
If you want a good night’s sleep its best to switch off your tablet and smart phone. Professor Charles Czeisler, of Harvard Medical School said: ‘Technology has effectively decoupled us from the natural 24-hour day to which our bodies evolved, driving us to go to bed later.’ He claims that declining the hours slept per night brings with it the risk of obesity, heart disease, obesity, depression and stroke in adults and concentration problems in children. These numbers have increased and he thinks that more research should be done to prevent the negative effects of artificial light on sleeping patterns.

My opinion
I find this research quite interesting because it affects everyone. A couple months ago for example I read an article, written by a sleep researcher, about the bad effect of blue light at night. The red or orange colour is better for your night’s sleep. This is something that I can relate to because I can’t stand blue light from my laptop in my room at night. It annoys me and keeps me awake, that is why I always cover it with something. I don’t mind the other stand-by buttons that glow orange because they seem more natural and are less bright.

  1. Maybe I should turn off my phone at night then. To be honest the blue light doesn't annoy me but maybe because I'm already used to it. What does annoy me is the orange colour but maybe that's because it means my phone battery id dying. But I do go to sleep when it happen so maybe it works
