Post 2: Heathrow jet on fire

Heathrow jet on fire
A British Airways jet with 75 passengers had to make an emergency landing while flames and smoke came from the engine. The Airbus 319 was forced to land several minutes after it took off for Norway’s capital Oslo. The passengers reported that there was an “almighty blow-out” coming from the right hand engine.  After the emergency landing 10 fire crews rushed to extinguish the fire and help the passengers get out of the burning jet. Three passengers were treated for minor injuries by ambulance crews. The Air Accident Investigation Board is going to investigate the jet.

My opinion
Of course it is terrible what happened. I cannot imagine what the passengers of the jet must have gone through. There were also eye witnesses from the streets who heard an explosion and when they looked up they saw smoke coming from the right wing. British Airways said that it probably developed a “technical fault”. But there are suggestions that a bird strike was the cause of the explosion in the right wing of the jet. Luckily there were no fatal victims in the airplane or on land. I hope they will find out soon what really happened.

  1. It is very sad to read about thing like that because you are always it was not you in that airplane or close family or friends. And you feel guilty for being happy but your heart goes out to the people who were there and their families. But we all can be happy that no one was severely hurt.
