Post 6: 46 more free schools in London

46 more free schools in London
The Secretary of Education Michael Gove today approved 46 “free schools” in London. These schools will provide at least 22,000 new classroom spaces. The London Councils say that the city needs 118,000 school spaces to avoid a crisis. Everyone can apply to open a free school funded by the government’s cash. Charities, parents, teachers, religious groups have shown interest. Mr Grove said: “There are many innovators in local communities set on raising standards of education for their children. I am delighted to approve so many of their high-quality plans.” The approved schools are opening next year.

My opinion
In my opinion there can’t be too many free schools. The good thing is that is that 35 of the schools are mainstream and 11 are for children with special needs. One of the schools for special needs is The Family School in Westminster which is for children with mental health problems from the age of 5 to 14. I can’t imagine a city with an education crisis like the London Council wants to avoid. These new schools are needed because everyone has the right for education of a high standard. Children are the future and you should invest in it.

  1. Children are the future like you said and the London Council or any county as a matter of fact should have free school to invest in the future generation which are the children. All the council members received a proper education I can guarantee that, so why not let children today get one. So I am happy that the London Council approved the free school.
